COLUMBUS, Miss. – In its final game of calendar year 2022, the Mississippi University for Women lost to Millsaps College, 61-23, at Pohl Gym. The loss by the Owls (0-10) gave the season series to the Majors (9-2).
While The W struggled to find its offensive rhythm, it did produce some good news on defense. The Owls held Millsaps – the No. 37-ranked team in NCAA III for scoring offense at 74.1 points per game – better than 13 points below its season average.
Neither team had any players score in double figures. However, MC ran three platoons in against The W, with 13 of the 15 players scoring.
Meanwhile, MUW was led by
Becca Owens' seven points, on a 3-for-6 game from the floor. Owens had three rebounds, as well.
Jas Patrick and
Conley Langford each chipped in six points. Langford led all rebounders with 13, while also making a pair of steals.
Reagan Sonnier and
Hannah Duran each tallied two points to round out the Owls' scorers. Duran also led MUW in both assists (4) and steals (3).
The W will be off until January 7, when it plays host to Toccoa Falls College.
