COLUMBUS, Miss. – Sophomore
Conley Langford led the Mississippi University for Women by scoring 18 points and pulling down nine rebounds, but it was not enough to avoid a 75-39 home loss versus Toccoa Falls College. The loss dropped the Owls to 0-11, while the Screaming Eagles improved to 9-4.
Langford – in posting her eighth double-digit scoring game of 2022-23 - had 15 of her team-high point total in the second half versus TFC. Langford was 7-for-22 from the field for the afternoon, including going 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. She shared MUW team-leading rebound honors with
MG Chamberlain.
Chamberlain, in addition to matching Langford's nine boards, tallied 13 points. Chamberlain also made three steals and had her team's lone blocked shot.
Hannah Duran and
Jas Patrick each booked three points.
Becca Owens had two points to round out The W scorers.
Duran managed six rebounds – all on the defensive glass – while also showing some stellar defense with a game-leading six steals. Owens and Patrick each chipped in three caroms, apiece.
Patrick and Duran had six and four assists, respectively.
The same two teams will square off again on Tuesday (Jan. 10) at 4 p.m. Central Time, with the venue switching to Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
