JACKSON, Miss. – A slow start turned out to be the undoing for the Mississippi University for Women in its 68-51 loss at Belhaven University. The Owls found themselves down big after one quarter, before playing the Blazers fairly even the rest of the way at Rugg Arena.
The W fell behind, 23-8, after one period, before an even second quarter made it 34-19 at the intermission. BU led 57-30 through three stanzas, but The W had a 21-11 run the final 10 minutes of the game.
MG Chamberlain topped the Owls scoring for the fourth time in the team's past five games. Chamberlain booked 17 points, hitting 6-of-16 from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Senior
Rokila Wallace also scored in double digits for the 14th time in 15 games this season, adding 10 points to The W's tally sheet. She also topped the team with eight rebounds – seven on the defensive end – and three assists.
Maddie Guerin had a 3-for-6 night shooting from the floor and 3-of-6 effort from the free throw line, good for nine points.
Hannah Duran did a little bit of everything for the Owls, scoring six, making five steals, dishing off three assists and pulling down three rebounds.

The Owls will next host Arkansas Baptist College on Saturday. Tipoff at Pohl Gym is slated for 2 p.m.
