COLUMBUS, Miss. - It was a tough day for a home opener, as the men's soccer team from the Mississippi University for Women dropped a 3-0 decision to Blue Mountain College at the Lowndes County Soccer Complex. The Owls fell to 0-2-1 overall, while the Toppers upped their record to 2-3.
The match was a still a comfortable 1-0 in favor of BMC in the first half. But The W was unable to muster any offense in the second half, while the Toppers added a pair of goals for the 3-0 final score.
Blue Mountain held a 14-6 advantage in total shots and kept MUW goalkeeper
David McCutchen busy by putting nine attempts on goal. McCutchen would finish with six saves.
Aussie Salgado had two of the Owls' shot tries.

Pedro Santana and
Victor Gomez each had a shot-on-goal attempt for MUW.
The W will next travel to Huntingdon College next Wednesday (Sept. 14). Kickoff in Montgomery, Ala., is slated for 7 p.m.
