MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Mississippi University of Women volleyball was swept, 3-0, on the road at Huntingdon College, ending its modest two-match win streak. The Owls were topped by the Hawks with set scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.
The W stayed within striking distance in set No. 1, trailing 20-19 before the Hawks reeled off the final five points for the win. However, the second set belonged to Huntingdon from the outset, as the home team jumped ahead 10-1 and never looked back. The hosts went on to win set three by seven points to claim the match.
Amonie Silas was credited with four kills and
Llayne Skinner three. Skinner also made 23 digs and had three assisted blocks. Skinner's dig total was second only to teammate Maddy Sugg's 31 digs.
Maggie Griggs added eight digs and
Sydney Horel seven.
Hannah Duran and
Camryn Johnson had six and five digs, respectively.
Jasmine Kelly had three blocks for MUW, one solo and two assisted.
Micaela Hudgins had a solo and an assisted block on her ledger.
The W will next be in action at home on Thursday (Sept. 22) versus Bethel University (Tenn.). First servfe is slated for 4 p.m. at Pohl Gym.
