Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. – Playing its second game in less than 24 hours on the road and with a depleted roster, the Mississippi University for Women was defeated by Oglethorpe University, 69-38. The Owls embarked on the trip with just six healthy players, due to injury and illness.
That meant that the gritty MUW roster had four players –
Jas Patrick,
Hannah Duran,
Conley Langford, and
MG Chamberlain - who did not come off the floor versus the Stormy Petrels (6-7). The freshman Patrick has played every minute of 2022-23, thus far.
Despite being short on numbers, The W was able to stay within striking distance in the first half. MUW trailed 16-8 after the first quarter and 30-14 at the half. But exhaustion led to some unforced errors by the Owls in the second half, as Oglethorpe extended its advantage.
Langford notched her second-consecutive double-double effort - and third of the year - versus the Stormy Petrels. Langford had game-leading totals with both 16 points and 10 rebounds. She made good on 6-of-17 (35.3%) from the field and also had a pair of treys.
It was also Langford's 10th game of double-digit point totals out of 13 contests.
Chamberlain hit 6-for-19 from the floor, on her way to a 15-point day and her fifth-straight double-figure scoring effort. She also grabbed three rebounds.
Patrick added five points and four assists to the Owls' ledger.
Ashley Cooper's two points rounded out The W's offense.
Hannah Duran had six rebounds, four assists and a team-best four steals.
Becca Owens corralled five caroms, all on the defensive glass.
The W will next be in action on Saturday (1 p.m.) at the University of Dallas.
