FULTON, Mo. – Mississippi University for Women men's soccer had its three-match unbeaten streak snapped, losing a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Westminster, 3-0. The Owls (2-7-3, 1-2-1 SLIAC) entered the contest versus the Blue Jay (2-8-0, 1-2-0 SLIAC) having a win and two ties in its last three outings.
Once again it was a lack of offensive production that weighed down The W's chances, with just two shot attempts in the first half and seen total for the evening. Conversely, the WC team had 16 total shots, with 10 coming in the opening half, alone. The Jays put 12 shots directly on-goal, compared to three on target by the Owls.
No MUW player had more than one shot attempt.
Cristian Canas,
DJ McElroy, and
Nick Aversa had the team's shots on frame, all turned away by the Blue Jays' netminder.
In The W's nets,
Zach Seymour was charged with all three goals. Seymour had nine saves.
MUW will look to get back on track on Sunday (Oct. 8/3:30 p.m.) when t travels to Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.
