ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Mississippi University for Women women's soccer team was defeated, 3-0, at St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) co-leader Webster University on Sunday afternoon. The Owls fell to 3-6-0, 2-3-0 in the SLIAC, while the Gorloks improved to 6-3-1 and 4-0-0 in SLAIC matches.
Webster out-shot The W, 23-3 overall and held a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal.
The Gorloks tallied twice in the opening half – in the 17th and 25th minutes – to lead 2-0 at the intermission. MUW kept WU in check the majority of the second segment, permitting a late goal in the 88th minute for the 3-0 final score.
Alex Moon played all 90 minutes in the nets for the Owls. Moon made nine total saves.
Carlie Giles received credit for all three of The W's shot attempts, as well, including one on-frame in the second half of play.
