JACKSON, Miss. – The struggles continued for the Mississippi University for Women women's basketball team, as it dropped an 82-29 decision at Belhaven University's Rugg Arena. By virtue of the win, the Blazers (13-6) swept the season series versus the Owls (0-17).
One of the bright spots for the depleted MUW unit has been the efforts of Calhoun City-native
Conley Langford. The sophomore guard had her fifth double-double in the last six games and sixth, overall, this season.
Langford led all players in both points (20) and rebounds (14). Langford was on the court all 40 minutes, hitting 7-of-22 from the field. She had two steals to her credit, as well.
Langford, as it turned out, was MUW's only offensive threat. Only four others players scored for The W.
Ashley Cooper and
Jas Patrick each had three points.
Sasha Burdine and
Reagan Sonnier added two and one point, respectively.
Hannah Duran had three boards, two assists and a block on her ledger.
The W will next be in action at home on Saturday, Feb. 11, versus Warren Wilson College.
