WILMORE, Ky.- Mississippi University for Women baseball lost its final game of the three-game series versus Asbury, 13-7, and was swept in the road set of games.

Catcher
Avery Benson certainly did his part to help the Owls (2-12) avoid the sweep, but to no avail. Benson was 2-for-4 in the game, driving in four runs. In the first inning, Benson laced an RBI single that drove home
Tanner Evans with the first run of the day.

The W added a run in the first on a
Matthew Windham (1-3) fielder's choice ground out – plating
Austin Telano – to make it 2-0 at the time.

Among Benson's hits was his first home run of 2023, a prodigious shot to rightfield in the fifth inning with Telano on base. In the sixth, Benson had a sacrifice fly that allowed
Baker Watson (1-5) to trot home, as well. Benson was also hit by a pitch as his third time on base for the contest.

Evans finished the game 2-for-4, with a double and sacrifice, along with a run scored.

CJ Wise also went 2-for-4, as the third Owls' player with multiple hits. Wise walked once, as well.

Ethan LeBlanc (0-1) had a rough outing. LeBlanc was chased after retiring just one Eagles' batter. He was charged with five earned runs and walked three, as well. LeBlanc was followed by
Connor Reilly, who gave up four runs in 2.2 innings of work.

Josh Mackey and closer
Landon Clark were unscathed by the hot Asbury bats. Both tossed 2.0 innings of scoreless relief, with each permitting just two hits, as well.
