After finding itself down 2-0 in the first inning, The W (2-13) bats came to life in the fourth frame.
Cole Evans had a groundout run batted in in the fourth.
In the top of the fifth, MUW took the lead. An RBI double off the bat of Tanner Evens knotted the game at 2-2. Catcher
Avery Benson then drilled a two-run homer – his second round-tripper of the year – to make it 4-2.
In the sixth,
Jake Williams kept the Owls' scoring spree intact with a run-scoring double that plated
Johnny Setchfield to make it 5-2.
After scoring a single run in its half of the fifth, the Majors broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning.
Landon Clark's RBI double in the eight drove in Setchfield with MUW's final run of the contest, 9-6.
The W starter
Campbell McCluney went the first 3.0 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs.
Brandon Fenimore then followed with one of his best outings of 2023, tossing 2.0 scoreless and no-hit innings.
All three of the subsequent relievers were touched up for multiple runs, each. The W's fourth pitcher of the evening,
Joseph Gantt, took the loss.
