BATESVILLE, Ark. – The W volleyball lost its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) contest at Lyon College, 3-0. The Owls (2-9, 0-5 SLIAC) lost to the Scots (11-3, 3-2 SLIAC) by set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-22 at Becknell Gym.
The host Lyon team won the first two sets handily. However, it looked like The W might reverse its fortune in the third. The Owls built a seven-point cushion, 18-11, thanks to an
Amonie Silas kill. Five unanswered points got the Scots to within two and The W still held a lead at 22-20. But LC would close out the set – and match – with five unanswered points.
MUW hit .047 for the match, while LC had a .172 attack percentage. The Scots knocked down a total of 33 kills, compared to 27 by The W.
Silas was the match co-leader with nine kills for MUW.
MC Brown leveraged seven kills and also had 11 digs. Both players hit .091 for the night.
Sophomore
Madyson McBrayer added six kills and nine digs. Libero
Madison Kelly had a match-best 22 digs to lead the Owls' back row. Setter
Hannah Duran had 22 assists and a pair of serve aces.
The W will look for some "home cooking" to return to its winning ways on Saturday (Oct. 5) in a home SLIAC contest versus Eureka College at 10 a.m. in Pohl Gym.
