GREENVILLE, Ill. – The W Volleyball was its own worst enemy on Friday, dropping a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) match, 3-0, at Greenville University. The Owls (3-14, 0-10 SLIAC) fell to the Panthers (13-7, 8-1 SLIAC) – currently in second place in the league by mere percentage points – by set scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-17.
Facing one of the SLIAC's upper echelon teams was a difficult task, by itself. But MUW made its job even more difficult by having a subpar offensive effort. The Owls hit just .010 for the match, finishing with just one more kill (18) than attack errors (18) as a team. That's in contrast to a .258 attack average by GU.
Junior
MC Brown had nine kills to top the Owls. Brown also mad seven digs and one block on defense.
Senior
Amonie Silas added six kills and senior setter
Hannah Duran had two. Duran topped The W with 15 assists and eight digs.
Madison Kelly and
Madyson McBrayer each had seven digs, as well. McBrayer also served up both of the Owls' aces.
The W will next be in action on Thursday (Oct. 24/7 p.m.), hosting Welch College in a non-conference match.
