MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Mississippi University for Women baseball came out on the wrong end of a 12-2 result versus Emory University, at the Huntingdon College Invitational on Saturday. The loss evened the Owls record at 1-1 this season.
MUW found itself down 6-0 after two full innings. The game was shortened by the 10-run rule after seven innings. All six of the early runs were charged to MUW starter
Loren Cox (0-1), who was chased after 1.1 innings. All three relievers who followed Cox gave up two runs in their respective stints.
In all, MUW had four hits (EU managed nine hits). The W rightfielder
Johnny Setchfield was 2-for-3, both doubles, on the afternoon.
Baron Brack and
Tyler Estabrook had the other MUW hits.
Senior
Austin Telano had a part of both Owls' runs for the day. Telano's third inning sacrifice fly plated
Matthew Windham. Then in the sixth, Telano scampered home from third on a wild pitch.
