BELLEVILLE, Ill. – They say "to the victor go the spoils" and - after two consecutive weeks of winning tournaments - the Mississippi University for Women men's golf program has found out that is true.
Spence Davis (Madison, Miss.) was once again the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Men's Golfer of the Week, after his second-straight second place individual finish led the Owls' squad.
The junior Davis carded a 36-hole score of 76-74=150, one stroke behind the overnight leader, and medalist, Manual Loring Campos from DePauw (149), at the Alabama Invasion, hosted by Spalding University at the Cherokee Ridge Golf Course.
"Spence (Davis) showed up again this week for us," MUW Head Coach
Benji Williams said. "He's been really consistent this spring and has really picked up his game in the last month."
Davis led the charge that produced a 13-stroke margin over the MUW "B" team in second place. Perennial NCAA III power DePauw University was 18 shots back in third place.
