Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mississippi University for Women baseball could not hold a late lead and lost a non-conference bout at Rhodes College, 8-7, in 10 innings. The loss dropped the Owls to 20-11 overall, while the Lynx improved to 22-16, sweeping both 2024 meetings.

In the 10th,
Landon Clark – who was placed on second in the tie-breaker – advanced to third on a ground out. Clark then came home on
Zack Egan's bloop single to right to make it 7-6.
The Lynx took advantage of a fielding error and hit batter to eventually score twice in their at-bats in the 10th for the walk-off win, 8-7.

Baker Watson had a big day at the plate. The W third baseman went 3-for-4, with a double, and drove in four of his team's runs. Watson also scored once, as well.

In a "bullpen game" for both teams in the non-league match-up – Rhodes used seven pitchers and MUW threw four – it was
Jackson Gantt (5-2) absorbing the loss, despite allowing just two hits over his 2.1 innings of work. He had one strikeout and did not walk a batter.
In all, The W hurlers struck out six Lynx batters and walked just two. MUW permitted just four earned runs out of the eight scored by Rhodes, thanks to five errors by the Owls' defense.
MUW will travel to Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, for a SLIAC doubleheader on Saturday (April 27) at 1 p.m.
