COLUMBUS, Miss. – A trio of The W baseball team members –
Zach Johnson (Moody, Ala.),
Baron Brack (Pike Road, Ala.), and
Chase Marshall (Moody, Ala.) – have garnered all-region honors, as postseason accolades are announced. Johnson and Brack were both consensus selections across the three platforms bestowing awards: the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), D3Baseball.com, and D3Region8Base.com.
Johnson, a senior outfielder, was a first-team honoree by all three organizations after another banner season for MUW in 2026. Johnson was the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Player of the Year and a first-team all-SLIAC pick, as well. In games against teams reaching the 2026 NCAA III national championships (9 contests in all), Johnson slashed .424 / .500 / .758, hit safely in all 9 games, with 5 extra-base hits, 9 RBI, 6 walks, and 11 runs.
Johnson led The W in numerous offensive categories, including batting average (.409), OPS (1.183), total hits (67), runs scored (57), doubles (12), home runs (10), slugging percentage (.701), sacrifice flies (5), and stolen bases (18). His totals for hits, runs, home runs, and RBI, are all MUW season records.
Johnson had a 22-game hitting streak and a 35-game on-base streak, both school records, as well. He had 22 multi-hit games (7 w/ 3+ hits) and 13 multi-RBI games, hitting safely in 36 of 39 games played.
Brack, a senior designated hitter/outfielder combo, earned first-team honors from both the ABCA and D3Baseball.com, as well as second team from D3Region8Base.com. Brack was a first-team All-SLIAC pick in 2026, earning his third all-conference award in as many seasons with the program. Brack, too, did well against 2026 NCAA 3 playoff teams (10 games), slashing .417 / .512 / .750, with 7 extra-base hits, 13 RBI, 8 runs, and 6 walks.
In SLIAC stats, Brack ranked: #1 in RBI, #2 in batting average, #3 in OPS, #3 in triples, #3 in slugging percentage, #5 in sacrifice flies, #7 in total hits, #7 in homers, #8 in on-base average, and #10 in walks. He is the first, and only, MUW player w/ 2 triples in a game (4/25/26 Greenville). He hit safely in 34 of 40 games, with 22 multi-hit and 14 multi-RBI games.
Marshall, a junior middle infielder, was a first-team honoree by both D3Baseball.com and the D3Region8Base.com, also earning first-team All-SLIAC status. For the 2026 campaign, Marshall had a slash line of .379/.621/.515 in his first season with The W. Marshall hit safely in 31 of 38 games this season, with 14 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games to his credit.
