Men’s soccer falters in second half versus Webster

FULTON, Mo. – The W men's soccer played St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) foe Webster University close for the opening half, before the roof fell in the second stanza in an 8-0 road loss at Worldwide Technology Park. The Owls slipped to 3-9-1 (0-3-1 SLIAC), while the Gorloks improved to 5-6-1 (3-2-0 SLIAC).

MUW trailed by just a 1-0 score at the intermission, permitting a goal in the 20th minute. But the host WU side unleashed a scoring barrage of seven goals in the final 45 minutes to ice the match.

Owls goalkeeper Nick Gutierrez was charged with all eight goals. Gutierrez made 17 saves on the evening, as the Gorloks put 25 shots on-goal and had a 53-to-4 margin in total shot attempts.

MUW's Kyle Morris had the lion's share of the tries for his team. Morris took three shot attempts, with one on frame.

Jordan Ware had The W's other try, which was on-goal, as well.

The Owls will finish off their two-game road trip with a Saturday (October 18/11 a.m.) morning match at Westminster College.
