For the second time in less than a year, The W has a lead in the SLIAC SAAC Challenge. This time, they are hoping to avoid losing that lead like they did in the spring by building up an impressive point total this fall. The Owls have put up a whopping 26,226.7 points this fall, nearly surpassing their total from all of last year. Several Owl programs made weekly visits to local elementary schools. The MUW baseball team alone racked up over 1200 hours visiting schools. The men's basketball, men's soccer, softball, and volleyball teams also recorded over 300 hours each. The softball team also held a pair of fundraiser events, including collecting over $500 for SIDS.

Westminster College is in second place with 9,350 points during the fall sport season. The Blue Jays were heavily involved with on campus events such as freshman move-in day, the Hall of Fame dinner, and a golf tournament. They also visited local schools, participated in a variety of Trick or Treat events, and held a clothing donation drive. They have already nearly surpassed their total from last year, when they finished third overall.

Blackburn College sits in third place with 3,668 points. The Beavers picked up most of their points with the women's soccer, women's basketball, softball, and men's and women's wrestling teams volunteering at the Carlinville Lions Carnival in September. They also held Dig Pink matches, collecting over $600 in donations.

Two-time defending champion, Lyon College, totaled 3,395 points this fall. The Scots soccer programs collectively accounted for nearly half of the groups point totals during the fall. The women's basketball team and men's and women's golf programs were also heavily involved.

Webster University recorded 4,832.5 points during the fall, already surpassing last year's yearly total. Webster has built a strong connection with its local elementary schools. In addition, the Gorlok baseball team spent time during their visit to the Domincan Republic painting houses. Webster continued its annual Dig Pink match which raised over $1700.

Principia College rounds out the scoring with 775 points. Principia held a canned food drive during a volleyball match in October, collecting 150 cans. They also volunteered at a local track and field event and wrote 'Thank You' cards to local first responders.

The SAAC Challenge award was established in 2013 to recognize the efforts that SLIAC member schools are involved with in their community and on campus. The competition takes into account community service projects, collections, and donations with the overall winner for the academic year being recognized at the conference's annual awards banquet.
