Served on a Tray: Owls’ Huguley earns SLIAC Player of the Week

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – After what can only be described as a dream week, The W men's basketball standout Tray Huguley (Saks, Alabama/Saks H.S.) has been voted as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Player of the Week, it was announced.

With the numbers Huguley put up in a pair of Owls' SLIAC victories last week, it would have been hard to vote against the sophomore transfer from Shelton State Community College. Huguley's averages were mind-boggling, to say the least: 35.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game.  He shot 68 percent (30-44) from the field and connected on 85 percent (11-13) from the free throw stripe. He had double-doubles in both contests.

In MUW's video game-like win over Greenville University last Saturday, 142-109, Huguley set the Owls' single-game scoring record with 51 points (previously 35 by Keith Harris on December 17, 2019, versus Belhaven). He also set school single-game marks for field goals made (21) and field goals attempted (29). Huguley had three blocks and four assists versus the Panthers, as well.

Just 48 hours prior, on Thursday (Dec. 4), Huguley played a huge role in The W's double-overtime victory versus Spalding University, as well. Against the Golden Eagles, Huguley chipped in 20 points on a 9-for-15 shooting game.  He pulled down 12 rebounds, had two assists, and a block on his ledger.

In his six contests for MUW in 2025-26, Huguley is averaging 24.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He has rolled up three consecutive double-double games and four games with 20-plus points. He has posted double-figure scoring in every game as an Owl.

Huguley is the current SLIAC leader in both scoring (24.2 p.p.g.) and rebounds (9.3 r.p.g.). He is No. 2 in field goal percentage (.644), No. 2 in blocked shots (13/2.2 b.p.g.), and No. 8 in free throw percentage (.714), His 51-point game is the most in the SLIAC for 2025-26 and is tied for fifth-most points scored in a game in SLIAC history.

"It was a solid week for us as a program on the court," MUW Head Coach Dean Burrows said. "And we had a few guys, who we felt may have been up for this accolade, given the success of the group. Tray's being named SLIAC Player of the Week is a nod to what he accomplished on the hardwood and doesn't happen without his teammates."

Huguley and the Owls resume play on December 18 (1 p.m.), versus Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.
