COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W Baseball senior
Landon Clark (Tuscaloosa, Alabama/Sipsey Valley H.S.) added a historic honor to his career résumé, as he has been selected as an All-American by both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and
D3Baseball.com, it has been announced. Clark was a second-team honoree on the ABCA All-American list and a fifth-team A.A. choice by
D3Baseball.com.
Clark also becomes the first Owls' student-athlete to earn all-America recognition – in any sport – since the University achieved full NCAA III membership in 2023-24.
"I can't say enough about how deserving Landon is for these honors," MUW Head Baseball Coach
Scott Mularz said. "He is the epitome of what you want in a player at the NCAA Division III level: highly skilled, coachable, a team player, committed to his classroom work, and a good representative of the University off the field. It is very fitting that a young man with these qualities also has the honor of being the first-ever NCAA III All-American honor afforded to The W Athletics, as well."
Clark was picked as a utility player on both honor rolls after an outstanding 2025 campaign from both the mound and the plate, helping the Owls to a second-place finish in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) regular season and postseason tournament.
From the mound, Clark led the Owls with a 3.19 earned run average, posting a record of 7-2. He topped the team with 67.2 innings pitched and 70 strikeouts (to just 25 walks). Opponents had a paltry .224 batting average against him during his 13 appearances on the bump. He earned back-to-back SLIAC Pitcher of the Week awards (4/134/25 & 4/20/25), as well.
In the field, where he played second, first, and designated hitter, Clark amassed a .385 batting average (50-130), which ranked second on the MUW team. Clark scored 41 runs and drove in 29, as well. He had 17 extra-base hits - 9 doubles, 3 triples, and 5 home runs – while also drawing a team-best 28 walks. He had a .615 slugging percentage and a team-leading .506 on-base average. Clark also went 11-for-14 in steal attempts.
Clark was a first-team All-SLIAC honoree and named to the SLIAC championships' all-tournament team.
"I'm beyond grateful to receive the award," Clark remarked. "It was my personal goal, at the beginning of the season, to make all-American. It's beyond exciting to achieve those goals. I am so grateful for everything my coaches, family, and friends have done for me and none of this would be possible without them."
For his career with the program, Clark is the Owls' pitching leader in strikeouts (158), Innings Pitched (145.2), Wins (13), and Opponent Batting Average (.229). He also holds the MUW career record for games played (122). In 2025, Clark also set MUW's single-season strikeout record, with 70 Ks (to just 25 walks).
Clark had an auspicious debut as a pitcher for The W as a freshman in 2022, after playing the first half of the campaign as a middle infielder. Clark first took the bump versus Asbury University in a neutral-site contest at Millington, Tennessee, on April 1. But Clark was not fooling around in his 2.1 innings of relief, foreshadowing what was to come. Clark threw 24 total pitches – 23 of which were strikes – and finished his stint with four Ks, no walks, no hits, no runs allowed, and facing the minimum seven batters.
In the classroom, Clark is a two-time Academic All-District honoree by the College Sports Communicators, as well as being recognized twice on the SLIAC's All-Academic Team (both awards require a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average). Clark graduated earlier this month with a degree in accounting, which he hopes to use to work with an MLB team in the future.
