Owls Soccer honored for its academic goals

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – United Soccer Coaches (USC) announced on Friday its College Team Academic Award winners, recognized for their exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year, with both of The W's programs honored. The Owls women's team sported a 3.56 grade point average, while the men's squad made the list with a 3.05 GPA for 2024-25.

Nationwide, a total of 736 soccer teams (302 men, 434 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the USC Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year. Of that total, 167 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including The W.

MUW joined Westminster College as the only other school from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) to have both of its programs recognized. Webster University saw its women's team honored, as well as the men's squad from Greenville University, which gave the SLIAC a total of six USC Team Academic Awards.

For a team to be considered for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA or junior college roster forms for the fall season. All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team GPA.
