LONGVIEW, Texas – It may sound like the makings of a country song, but it was
two tough nights in Texas for The W women's soccer. The Owls (0-6-1) lost for the second time in as many days in the Lone Star State, this time at the hands of LeTourneau University, 5-0, at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
(MUW also lost at the University of St. Thomas on Friday evening).
It was a homecoming for The W Head Coach
Ana Ramos, who played at LETU from 2011-14. But it was a rough ride for her squad versus the Yellowjackets (5-1-0), as MUW drew blanks for the second-consecutive match. LETU led 4-0 after one half.
The Jackets took 24 shots, with 16 going on frame, which led to 11 saves by MUW goalkeeper
Cam Lopez. Conversely, MUW managed three shots, with two on-goal.
Anna McKee and
Macie Trotter had the Owls' shots on goal.
Asia Glass took MUW's other shot attempt.
The W will next play its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener next Saturday (September 27) at home versus Principia College. Kickoff at the Roger Short Soccer Complex will be at 12 p.m.
