COLUMBUS, Miss. - The W women's soccer matched Principia College in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) opener in pretty much everything except the score, in a 1-0 setback at the Roger Short Soccer Complex. The Owls fell to 0-7-1 (0-1-0 SLIAC), while the Panthers improved to 2-3-0 (1-0-0 SLIAC).
MUW and PC both had 10 total shot attempts for the match. The Owls actually put more shots on goal by a 6-to-4 margin. But the one that counted for the Panthers came in the 77th minute, after a scoreless first half.
Abby Warchus took three of MUW's shots, putting two on frame.
Asia Glass and
Kimi Norway each hd a pair of shots, with on apiece on goal.
Cam Lopez registered three saves for The W. Principia counterpart Christin Walls had six saves.
The Owls held a commanding 7-0 cushion in corner kicks.
The W will host Piedmont University on Sunday (7:30 p.m.) in a non-conferene bout.
