COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W men's soccer had its St. Louis intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) opening match spoiled by visiting Principia College, 5-1, at the Roger Short Soccer Complex. The Owls fell to 3-6-0 (0-1-0 SLIAC, while the Panthers improved to 3-3-1 (1-0-0 SLIAC).
PC tallied in the 8th and 24th minutes to take a 2-0 lead at the half. The Panthers added three scores in the second half to lead 5-0 before MUW was able to respond.

Kyle Morris. In the 85th minute, Morris attacked Principia goalkeeper Edgar Cartagenia from close range. Cartagenia made a kick save, bur Morris immediately put the rebounded ball back into the net for his 11th goal of 2025.
The Owls were outshot by the Panthers, 18 to 6 for the match. MUW goalie
Nick Gutierrez had six saves.
Preston Holmes had three of The W's shot attempts, one on frame. Morris too =k two shots, one on-goal.
The Owls will next be in action on October 4 at Spalding University.
