Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls stalked by Lions, 3-0

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W women's soccer to a respite from its SLIAC schedule for a rare Sunday evening matchup versus Piedmont University at the Roger Short Soccer Complex. Unfortunately for the Owls (0-8-1), the result was a 3-0 blanking by the Lions (7-4-0).

MUW found itself outnumbered by Piedmont in more ways than just the scoreboard, as the visitors played a total of 31 different players in the contest. Conversely, The W was able to utilize two substitutes versus the Lions' fresh legs.

Piedmont's depth would eventually take its toll, despite a gallant effort by the Owls. The Piedmont side tallied goals in the 10th and 30th minute to lead 2-0 at the intermission and adding a second-half tally in the 54th minute. The W also found itself outshot in the bout by a 14-to-1 margin, eight of which were on-goal.

MUW goalkeeper Cam Lopez would finish the night with five saves, playing all 90 minutes in the nets.

Senior forward Kimi Norway had the Owls' lone shot attempt, which was also on-goal, in the first half.

The W will look to snap its four-match losing skein on Saturday (October 4) when it resumes SLIAC play at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.
