JACKSON, Miss. - The W men's soccer stayed close to Belhaven University for the opening half, before allowing a second-half deluge in a, 6-1, non-conference setback. The Owls fell to 0-11-1, while the Blazers improved to 7-7-1 at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
MUW trailed by a manageable, 1-0, at halftime. And in the 52nd minute, the visiting Owls tied the match at 1-1.
After a Blazer goal kick, MUW's
Sebastian Araya settled the ball just inside midfield. Araya then sent the ball through to
Simon Roth streaking up the left side. Roth took two dribbles then laid it off to
Drake Ballard on his righthand side. Ballard then rifled the ball into the back of the net to level the score.
However, after that point, Belhaven would reel off five unanswered goals to ice the match.
The W goalkeeper
Kenneth Starr had two saves and allowed one goal in the first half.
Will Rickman also had two saves, but was charged with the five second-half tallies by BU.
