NEW ORLEANS, La. – All-Region honorees for the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The W standout freshman
Malachi Morgan (Decatur, Ala./Austin H.S.) becomes the first-ever male student-athlete from the Owls' track and field program to be recognized on the USTFCCCA all-region list.
The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned an All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Morgan made the all-region list in the high jump for the NCAA Division III South Region, where he had a season-best indoor mark of 1.99 meters (6'6.25") at the UAB Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex on February 7, 2026. That leap was also the MUW school record in the event. Morgan was the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) indoor high jump champion, as well as winning the SLIAC men's long jump, where he also owns the Owls' school record.
Morgan was voted both the SLIAC Freshman Field Events Performer of the Year and the overall Field Events Performer of the Year awards.
"This is a great accomplishment for Malachi and for the men's program," The W Head Coach
Dedrick Burnett said. "He's been working hard and dealing with some minor injuries this indoor season, so for him to achieve this honor is a well-deserved reward. As we turn our attention to the outdoor season, we're preparing him to possibly qualify for the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championship Meet. "
