CSC awards release
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The W Athletics has received four district honors – out of its four entries - from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), in its annual Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contests, it has been announced. The Owls' Office of Athletics Communications was cited with two first place and two second place awards in the College Division (for all non-NCAA I schools) for District 6, which includes institutions in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

MUW's two winning entries were in the Athlete Profile and Event Coverage categories. The feature story "
Prose and Con," a focus on women's basketball standout
Conley Langford, won for the Athlete Profile. The story appeared in the Visions magazine and was also picked up by the NCAA III social media, which garnered more than 92,000 views at last count.

The
recap of The W men's golf team's Zach Riley at the 2025 NCAA Division III national championships, which appeared on OwlsAthletics.com, earned top honors in Event Coverage. Riley was the first-ever golfer from MUW to make the cut at the NCAA III championships.

Both of the winning entries are now eligible for consideration for honors on the national level for the CSC's contests, which will be announced later this month.

The two runner-up awards came in Coach/Administrator Profile, for the feature on Director of Athletics Buddy Foster (
"The Buddy System"), and for General Feature for
"1986 volleyball team had the recipe for success", a preview for the team's 2025 Hall of Fame induction.

More than 100 articles written by CSC members were honored as district winners in the 2025-26 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. CSC members in all eight districts submitted nearly 500 articles in seven categories.
