COLUMBUS, Miss. - The W softball team's Addison Owen has been honored on the 2026 Academic All-District® Softball Team, it has been announced. Owen is a junior infielder from Pontotoc, Mississippi, and came to the Owls by way of Northwest Mississippi Community College and Pontotoc High School.
 
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
 
To earn Academic All-District® honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Additionally, each must appear in at least 90 percent – or start 66 percent – of their team's games played.

Owen is a mathematics (teacher certification) major at MUW. She was also honored as a member of The W's Athletics Director's Honor Roll.

In addition to her prowess in the classroom, Owen proved herself among the top players in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), as well, garnering first-team All-SLIAC accolades in 2026. Owen was the Owls' top offensive threat, leading the team in batting average (.491 / 52-106), total hits (52), doubles (8), RBI (21), slugging percentage (.632), on-base average (.509), and OPS (1.141).

Owen was one of just two MUW players to start and play in all 32 of the team's games in 2026.
