JACKSON, Miss. – The Owls volleyball team traveled to Jackson, Miss. to take on LeTourneau University and Belhaven University in a tri-match competition at Charles R. Rugs Arena. The Owls were unsuccessful on the road, falling 3-0 (11-25, 4-25, 12-25) to LeTourneau and 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 17-25) to Belhaven.

"In our match-up against LeTourneau, we really could not find a rhythm in serve receive," said head coach Roxanne Hernandez. "When we did get a decent set to our hitters, our offense was off key, so we struggled to give ourselves a fair chance."  

Versus the Yellowjackets, the Owls collected six kills on 70 total attacks, six assists, 22 digs, three block solos, and two block assists, for 11.0 points.

"We came out much better against Belhaven and rallied really well with them," continued Hernandez. "Our defense and offense worked very well together but, but we simply couldn't pull the win out today."

Against the Blazers, Kayla King led the Owl's offense with 8 kills on 22 total attacks. Madison Lamon led the team in assist with 11 and Sadie Mitchell was able to head up the Owls defense with 15 digs.

As a team, the Owls recorded 16 kills on 78 total attacks, 16 assists, 50 digs, 1 block solo, and two block assists for 22.0 points.

The Owls will take their final road trip of the season, when they travel to Memphis, Tenn. to participate in the Rhodes College Volleyball Tournament. The W will face Louisiana College, Rhodes College, and University on Friday, Oct. 27 – Saturday, Oct. 28. The Owls first match will be Friday evening against Louisiana College.
