Owls Struggle to Tame the Panthers at BSC

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Owls were unable to tame the Panthers in Tuesday night's men's soccer match at Birmingham Southern. The W played well defensively but the Owls struggled to get the offense going. The Owls fell 2-0 to Birmingham Southern for their sixth loss of the season.

Defensively, Jakob Williams worked hard in front of the Owls goal. The junior goal keeper played the entire 90 minutes to record five saves with only two goals allowed.

Offensively, the Owls were slim on the shots. Josh Martin and Jacob Thomas led the effort with two shots each while Thomas edged out Martin with one shot on goal.

The Panthers scored the only goals of the game in the first half. BSC grabbed one goal off a free kick 17 minutes in and a second goal off a corner kick 24 minutes in.

The Owls will have several days to prepare for their next match on Sunday, Sept. 30. The W men's soccer team along with the women's soccer team will host Hendrix College in doubleheader action beginning at noon.

Come out and support the Owls as they host the Warriors and look to improve on the season.
