Rodriguez Scores for the Owls in 5-1 Loss versus Pensacola Christian

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's soccer team fell, 5-1, against Pensacola Christian College on Saturday, Sept. 14. With this loss, the Owls fall to 2-2-2 overall, while the Eagles improve to 5-2-0.

The Owls challenged the Eagles during the match to open up opportunities to advance but were unable to capitalize on the effort.

Owls goalies John McGee and David McCutchen fought to prevent The W loss but could not stop the Eagles goals. Playing 45 minutes each, McGee made two saves with three goals allowed and McCutchen allowed two goals with five saves. 

On the offensive side, Kyle Rodriguez put the Owls on the board with a header shot during the latter part of the second half. Adding to the effort with three shots on goal were Zerick Brown and Brayan Resendiz followed with two shots. 

As a team, the Owls tallied 9 shots with five shots on goal.

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 19 when they take on Belhaven University to redeem themselves. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7 p.m.
