Box Score 2 Columbus, MS – The Owls softball team fell in a doubleheader against Christians Brother University. The midweek match-up ended with the Owls falling 3-11 and 1-10 in two five innings games.
Game One (L, 3-11) 5 Innings
On the mound for the Owls was junior Kaitlyn Parrish. Parrish worked for 3 innings and coming in for relief in the 4th inning was sophomore Amelia Stalter. However, the Buccaneers' offense was on a roll.
The W went down early with the Buccaneers going up 0-8 after 3 innings. A rally by the Owls offense was able to push 3 runs across in the 4th inning, making it 3-8.
The Buccaneers were quick to retaliate with 3 more runs of their own, going up 3-11.
The Owls were unable to score and fell in 5 innings.
Game Two (L, 1-10)
Junior Mackenzie Denton started on the mound for game two. Denton put in 3.1 innings of work for the Owls. Junior Brooklyne Eubanks came in for relief in the 3rd inning to finish off the game for the Owls.
The Buccaneers went up 0-3 in the 3rd inning. The Owls' offense came back with a run of their own due to a single to centerfield by Senior Madison Fields collecting the only RBI of the game.
The W's bats remained silent for the rest of the game to end it in a 5 inning loss, 1-10.
The Owls softball team will be back for redemption this Friday in their Strikeout Cancer doubleheader taking on Stillman College starting at 2 pm.
