Men's Soccer Falls 8-2 in Season Opener

Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The W men's soccer team (0-1) fell, 8-2, to Birmingham-Southern College (3-2) on Monday night at Goldfarb Field to open the Spring 2021 season for the Owls. Three goals from Coleman Jennings helped pace the Panthers on the night. Clayton Sanders and Josh Martin scored goals for The W in the 41st and 52nd minute.

BSC showed its class throughout the night with eight goals from five different players against The W team that featured six newcomers in its first game of the season.

The Owls returned John McGee, who split keeper duties with sophomore David McCutchen. McCutchen played 2:55 minutes for one save, while McGee completed the game with eight goals allowed and 13 saves.

The W will be back in action on Friday, March 5, when it returns to Birmingham-Southern for its second match of the week. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
