Owls Breeze Through Day 2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

After getting swept yesterday, MUW returned the favor to Clarks Summit University, sweeping them 10-0 and 8-1. It was a great day for Owls pitchers, which Coach Foster echoed after the game. "Our pitching was outstanding today. Both Amelia and Mackenzie were in complete control. Offensively, we had to make some adjustments to their pitching, but I was proud of the entire lineup today."

Game 1 (W 10-0)

Amelia Stalter had an absolutely beautiful day in the circle for Game 1, striking out 10 batters, allowing 1 walk and 2 hits. When asked how it felt in the circle today, Statler said, "It felt great. It was easy to feel confident knowing my defense was working behind me on each play. Our offensive success also took a lot of pressure off me."

Stalter was right about that, as the offense for the Owls made quick work of Clarks Summit on the offensive side of the plate. MUW started out strong, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Jaelynn Palmer went 3 for 3 at the plate with a single and 2 doubles, one of which drove in the last 2 runs of the ballgame. The rest of the Owls' runs came in the 4th inning where Austyn Holden got things started with a triple, followed by Lauren Duckworth and Jasmine Shaw hitting consecutive doubles.

Game 2 (W 8-1)

Senior, Mackenzie Denton, put in 7 full innings of work in Game 2 for the Owls. Denton only allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 13 strikeouts. In the opening innings Denton struggled to find the strike zone, but after taking a line drive off the leg, she began to mow down the Defenders batters.

In the batter's box, the Owls stayed strong in the second game, scoring in every inning except the 3rd. Austyn Holden, Megan Cummins, and Maddy Suggs all gathered up doubles, while Cummins added a triple to her day.

MUW gets a day to rest and then they will be back in action on Wednesday, March 10th, against Methodist University and Cairn University.
