Trice, Johnson Lead Volleyball in Dual Match at LeTourneau

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LONGVIEW, Texas – Owls volleyball went 0-2 in dual matches against LeTourneau University inside the Solheim Arena. The W started strong against the Yellowjackets, but the long week's fatigue settled in and got the best of them.

"I am extremely proud of our freshman in both matches," head coach Brooke Carter said of the competition. "They are bringing in the intensity every time they step on the floor and playing every point like it's match point. Several of them are even playing out of position but still giving it their all. They have no idea the impact they are making right now for the future of or program, and I am very excited to see what lies ahead for them in the upcoming years."

Match One [L, 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-13)]
Freshmen duo Jadelyn Trice and Camryn Johnson had a full first game to lead their team in kills and assists, respectively. Trice stayed close to the net to lay down eight kills while Johnson backed her up with 10 assists.

Johnson also covered the back row to tally six digs on the defensive side, and Briana Huerta-Ramirez led the team with seven.

As a team, the Owl tallied 87 total attacks to collect 17 kills.

Match Two [L, 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-11)]

Trice and Johnson still led the Owls offense in the second match of the day. They, along with senior Tori Weir, laid down three kills each. Johnson also contributed two aces to The W score, while Evelyn Pruitt gave three.

On the assists, Karmen McCrory covered the sets to give six assists. Johnson was credited with four, and Pruitt lent two.

Huerta-Ramirez led the Owls defense with 12 digs. Johnson contributed 11, and Pruitt put up seven.

As a team, the Owls recorded 103 total attacks with 12 sticking for kills.

The W will be back in action on Tuesday, April 6, when they take on Belhaven University in a dual home match. The first match will begin at 5 p.m.
