Chamberlain nets 23 points in loss at Greenville

Box Score GREENVILLE, Ill. – Mississippi University for Women post player MG Chamberlain came within a single point of matching her career-high scoring effort in the team's 82-49 road loss at Greenville University. This was the first-ever meeting between the Owls (0-6) and their future St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) mates, the Panthers (6-2).

Greenville currently has the second-best record among SLIAC teams. Only SLIAC pre-season favorite Webster University has a better record than does GU.

And while The W found the going tough on the scoreboard – a bad combination of the Owls' depleted roster and a red-hot shooting night by the Panthers – the MUW team's heart and effort certainly was above reproach. After being outscored 49-20 at halftime, MUW had a never-quit attitude and was bested by just five points in the third quarter (17-12), then tallied one more point than Greenville (17-16) in the fourth segment.

The W had seven available players and four scored points. Conversely, GU was able to run 'platoons' of players at the Owls, with 15 individuals seeing action, 13 of which scored Panther points.

But on this night, no one's effort was greater than that of Chamberlain. Chamberlain finished with a game-high 23 points, going 8-for-27 shooting from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw stripe. She also snared eight rebounds (seven defensive) and had three of the team's eight steals in the game.

It was just the second game back for Chamberlain, after being injured in the season opener and missing the Owls' next three games.

Freshman guard Jas Patrick had another outstanding game in her short-but-storied collegiate career, thus far. Patrick – who has gained the reputation as The W's 'Iron Woman' – completed her fifth-consecutive game playing all 40 minutes. Patrick did so by booking 16 points and a sterling shooting effort of 5-of-11 from the floor, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. She also had two rebounds, two steals, and two assists on her ledger.

Conley Langford added eight points, but made her mark on the glass. Langford pulled down a career and game-high 14 rebounds, seven on each end of the floor. She dished off a team-leading four assists, as well.

Hannah Duran added five assists. Her two points rounded out MUW's scoring for the night.

The W will continue its 'SLIAC Swing' over the weekend. After an off day on Friday, MUW will head to St. Louis to take on Webster on Saturday (Dec. 10) and Fontbonne on Sunday (Dec. 11).
