Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – As might be expected when punching up a division, the Mississippi University for Women volleyball team was swept, 3-0, at Ouachita Baptist University. The Owls (6-8) struggled versus the bigger, scholarship-laden lineup of the Tigers (10-7) by set scores of 25-6, 25-15, 25-16.
OBU controlled the net by rolling up a 47-16 margin in total kills. The W hit at .044 percent, while the Tigers were .357 in attack average for the night. The host OBU team also served up 12 aces, with MUW managing just three winners (a category MUW has dominated this season).
The W received a nice performance from sophomore middle blocker
Micaela Hudgins. Hudgins, a former player at New Hope H.S., led the Owls with seven kills and a team-best .375 attack average for her 16 attempts.
Junior libero
Maddy Suggs – a former Caledonia High School product – had 13 digs for The W's back row. Suggs had a pair of aces to her credit, as well.
Setters
Camryn Johnson and
Karmen McCrory each had seven assists. Johnson, another former Caledonia H.S. player, also booked four digs.
The setback extended The W's losing skein to four matches, while the Tigers won their fourth straight contest. Things won't get any easier for MUW as it travels to another NCAA II foe – the University of Arkansas-Monticello – on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
