By virtue of the losses, MUW was also mathematically eliminated from any chance of earning a berth in the 6-team SLIAC post-season tournament. The Owls have three remaining matches – all on the road – and are four games out of the sixth position.
Versus Blackburn, a team still vying for a post-season bid, The W fell by set scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-18.
MC Brown led the Owls' attack with a match-high 12 kills. Silas added seven kills, while
Megan Neeb posted five kills and a team best six digs.
Setters Duran and
Madison Wood split time and registered 16 and 14 assists, respectively.
Bailee Schmitt had two of her team's six service aces.
In the afternoon match versus Greenville, no Owls' player reached double-digit kills, in the 25-18, 25-19, 25-14 loss. Six kills from both Silas and Neeb set the pace. Brown was held to five kills.
Madison Kelly served up three of MUW's nine aces, with
Jamya Fondren and Schmitt each drawing a pair of aces. Kelly also led the back row with nine digs.
In Duran's home swansong, the Owls' all-time assist leader added 19 more "helps" to her total. For her nearly four-year career, Duran has 1,110 assists.
Silas is already MUW's career leader in attack average. Skinner, who played three seasons before injury forced her to the sidelines, is still The W career leader for both attack attempts and aces.
