Box Score COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W women's basketball found out that Webster University is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) co-leader for good reason in its 99-46 home loss at Pohl Gym. The Owls (5-14, 4-8 SLIAC) never led versus the Gorloks (17-2, 11-1 SLIAC).
Even without leading scorer
Calysia Phillips (leg), MUW was still in the game after the first quarter, down 26-15. But Webster stepped on the gas the rest of the way, leading at the intermission, 51-24.
The W did itself no favors by committing 40 turnovers, 19 of which were unforced errors. The Gorloks converted the Owls' miscues into 40 of its points, while also gleaning a 68-to-16 advantage for points in the paint.
TK Jones paced The W with 13 points, as the Owls' only double-digit scorer. Jones did most of her damage from the free throw line, where she converted 11-of-14 attempts. She led all defenders with four steals.
Conley Langford added nine points and three steals.
Jessica Hughes chipped in seven points, including a pair of threes.
No other Owls tallied for than four points.
Quay Dorrough came up big on the glass, especially on the offensive end. Dorrough hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds, seven of the offensive variety.
Sydney Pederson's three assists topped MUW's facilitators.
The W women will spend the next two weeks on the road, beginning with a Thursday (Feb. 6/5:30 p.m.) date at Fontbonne University.
