Owls’ Huguley lands a pair of All-Region hoop honors

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W men's basketball standout Tray Huguley (Saks, Ala./Saks H.S.) added to what was already a memorable 2025-26 season by earning a pair of NCAA Division III All-Region selections from both D3Hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Huguley, a sophomore forward, was tabbed as second team all-region on both lists.

In the MUW program's eight-year history, Huguley is the first-ever student-athlete to be recognized by either organization for all-region honors.

Huguley played a huge role in helping the Owls win their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) championships and secure an automatic bid to their first NCAA III playoffs in 2025-26. The W team set a school record for victories (17) and ranks No. 1 in the nation for field goal percentage (51.9).

And Huguley paced those results by averaging a double-double of 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game over his 26 contests played. Huguley shot 63.9 percent from the floor and 73.7 percent from the free-throw stripe. He also averaged 2.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game, as well.

Huguley rolled up 18 double-double games and tallied in double-digit scoring in all 26 games played, including 18 games of 20-plus points scored. He booked a school-record 51 points versus Greenville University on December 6, 2025.

In addition to points scored, Huguley also set game records for Field Goals Made (21) and Field Goals Attempted (29) versus GU. He set the MUW game rebounds record with 22 caroms versus Southeastern Baptist College on January 13, 2026.

Huguley also laid claim to The W men's basketball single-season records for: Points (591), Points per Game (22.7), Field Goals Made (250), Field Goals Attempted (391), Field Goal Percent (63.9),  Total Rebounds (304), Rebounds per Game (11.7), and Double-Doubles (18).

Huguley was voted the SLIAC Player of the Year and first-team All-SLIAC. He was selected as the SLIAC Player of the Week an unprecedented six times during the 2025-26 campaign.

"Jumping onto the stage this season and basically dominating it all along the way is very difficult in my opinion," MUW Head Coach Dean Burrows said. "As has been the case all season long, we are proud of these honors that Tray has brought to himself, his family, his teammates, and our program, as the accolades have rolled in all season long to go along with what he and his teammates have accomplished."

"Everything that Tray has earned has come as a result of the work that he has put in, when it comes to the on-court component, in addition to film study on his own outside our team film sessions", Burrows continued. "The best part of it all, from my perspective, is that he still can be even better if he is willing to continue to have a growth mindset and one of 'always becoming'."

Huguley came to MUW from Shelton State Community College, where he appeared in 28 games, making 2 starts, in 2024-25. At MUW, Huguley is a business administration major with plans to complete his master's degree before pursuing a career in coaching basketball. He was a member of MUW's Fall 2025 Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
