Owls’ Reid & Walker earn NABC Honors Court for men’s basketball

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The W men's basketball team had two of its players – Jackson Reid (New Braunfels, Texas) and Trent Walker (Hastings, Fla.) – recognized on the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Honors Court, it has been announced. It is the second-straight year that both Reid and Walker have earned the award, as well.

"Once again, we are proud of the honor that both Jackson and Trent have brought to themselves," MUW's former head coach Dean Burrows said.  "Likewise, they have brought honor to their families, our program, and institution as a result of their work in the classroom again for 2025-26, on being named to the NABC Honors Court for a second consecutive year.

"Think about what both of these young men accomplished these last two years," Burrows continued. "Both were named to the NABC Honors Court twice. Both helped the program earn its first-ever NABC Team Academic Excellence Award (in 2024-25). In their time here, they were a part of nearly 1,000 hours of community service from our program, played in back-to-back SLIAC conference tournaments, were a part of an NCAA III statistical champion for finishing first nationally this past year in Offensive Field Goal Percentage, and obviously, their leadership in helping our program earn its first-ever SLIAC title and NCAA tournament berth. Make no mistake about it, without them, we don't do so."

The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2025-26 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The NABC's academic awards are presented annually to teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball. Over 2,300 players earned spots on the NABC's Honors Court from across all divisions nationwide.

Both Reid and Walker completed their careers with MUW in 2025-26 and graduated this past May. Reid earned his MBA, while Walker was a business administration major.

"College basketball student-athletes do incredible things on the court, but their achievements in the classroom are equally worthy of celebration," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is one of the NABC's core values, and the hundreds of programs and thousands of athletes represented on these awards reinforce the commitment to academic success that exists across all levels of our sport."
