Box Score 2 BATESVILLE, Ark. - The W softball remained unbeaten and kept its grip on a share of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) lead after its sweep at Lyon College, 11-3 (six innings) and 7-3. The Owls improved to 11-10 overall (6-0 SLIAC), while the Scots fell to 4-22 (1-7 SLIAC).
Both MUW and Webster University are 6-0 in league play. Two others – Greenville University (4-0) and Spalding University (2-0) – have unblemished SLIAC records, thus far.
Neither game was ever much in doubt, as MUW took the lead it would not relinquish in the very first inning of each contest. And much of that early offensive punch can be attributed to LC's inability to control the top five batters for the Owls.
The same quintet for both bouts –
Gillion Eaves,
Madison York,
Addison Owen,
Kaylee Crawford, and
Brooklyn Rhodes – scorched the Scots' pitching, collecting 16 of The W's 23 total hits, including seven doubles and four triples. The group drove in 13 runs on the day, as well.
Junior thrdbaseman Owen, batting in the three hole, led the assault, going a combined 5-for-6, with a double, triple and four runs scored. Owen also drove in four runs, raising her season batting average to a lofty .507 for 2026. She has 15 multi-hit games, including both at Lyon.
Leadoff hitter Eaves was 2-for-9, but scored three, with a walk and two stolen bases. York was 4-for-7, with three doubles and a triple on the day, scoring five runs and driving in two in the second slot of the order. Crawford, batting fourth on the other side of Owen, was 2-for=-4 in both games (4-8 overall), had a double, scored three and drove in a pair.
Rhodes, the designated hitter in game one and pitcher in game two, raked in the five hole, going 3-for-8, with three doubles and four RBI. Rhodes improved her personal record in the circle to 4-4 in game two, going 7.0 innings, allowing two earned runs, with three strikeouts and two walks.
In game one, the Owls' freshman phenom
Trinity Garvin improved to 3-2 on the year, winning her second-straight SLIAC start. Garvin went 6.0 innings of the run-rule game. She struck out five and walked just one.
The W will next face Eureka College in a SLIAC twinbill on Sunday (April 12/10 a.m.) on the road.
