Volleyball Falls in Three Against Sewanee

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls volleyball team hosted Sewanee: The University of the South on Friday, Sept. 28 in its second home game of the season. The W mounted a great defense and limited unforced errors to play a great game against the Tigers. Despite the effort, the Owls were unable to defeat Sewanee, falling in three sets (12-25, 19-25, 13-25)

Kayla King, a sophomore outside hitter, led the Owls offense with a match high of 22 total attempts and three kills. Tori Weir, a sophomore from Columbus, aided in the scoring effort with a team high of 5.5 points with three kills, two block solos, and a block assist.

Madison Lamon started the game at setter to lead the Owls in assist. The Russellville, Ala. native recorded seven assist and one kill.

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive specialist Sadie Mitchell collected a match high of nine digs.

The Owls will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 2 when they host Belhaven University. The first serve is set for 6 p.m.
