NEW ALBANY, Miss. – The Owls men's tennis team traveled to New Albany, Miss. to take on Blue Mountain College on Tuesday, March 19. The W pushed back against the Topper were shutout to drop the match 8-0.
Marcus Montfort and Caleb Slone took on BMC's Jaan Silva and John Jimenez for the men's first doubles competition of the day. The Toppers duo won the match 8-0 to take the point.
In the second doubles competition, Draden Meggs and Chavis Ivory tallied one point against BMC's David Garcia and Zaen Harbin but it was not enough to take the match point to fall 8-1.
Owls duo Nickola Srzic and Jacob Thomas were also unable to get a point against Toppers pair Eddie Chagus and Zak Harbin to allow Blue Mountain to take the third and final point.
Srzic had better luck in the singles competition getting three points in set one and one point in set two against the Toppers Dylan Austin. Unfortunately, Austin took both sets 6-3 and 6-1 to win the point for Blue Mountain.
The W will be back in action on Friday, March 29 when they host Marion Military Institute on the Owls Tennis Court. The first serve is set for 5:30 p.m.
