COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W women's soccer team will return to the field on Saturday, Jan. 30, when they take on Mississippi College in the Spring 2021 season opener. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Owls 2020-21 season was delayed to the spring, but the team's hard work and dedication continued during this challenging time, and the start of the season is more than welcomed.
The Owls turn four starters, including three-time USCAA Goalkeeper of the Week
Sarah Gilliland and last year's newcomer standout
Lizzie Truelock. Powerhouse scorer
Sarah Havens also returns to the line-up with senior defender
Samantha Weinberg, a crucial part of The W's defense.
First-year head coach
Catie Lyles has brought in a robust 2020-21 class to fill in the missing position. These newcomers come from five different countries with varying levels of playing experience. She will depend on everyone to step into their roles on and off the field to ensure a victory in Saturday's match-up against the DII opponent.
Kick-off for the competition is set for 2:00 p.m. Livestream will be available via Owlsathletics.com.
