Box Score KEENE, Texas – The Mississippi University for Women women's soccer team scored first, but the host Southwestern Adventist University side scored more often, in a 6-2 road loss. Sophomore
Lindsey Moyle (Pearl River, LA.) had both of The W team's scores.
Moyle got MUW on the scoreboard first in the third minute, after the Owls took control in the attacking third of the field.
Adrianna Parsons (Springdale, Ark.) assisted on Moyle's goal that put the Owls on top, 1-0.
Unfortunately for the visitors, that would be the only score The W would see for 60 minutes of match time. The Warriors reeled off four unanswered goals to close the first half – and added a fifth early in the second – to lead 5-1.
Moyle netted her second tally of the match in the 63rd minute, cutting the Owls' deficit to 5-2. But The W was held at bay the rest of the way, despite putting three shots directly on-goal.
For the match, SWAU out-shot the Owls by a 14-10 margin. The Warriors put 12 shots on-goal, resulting in six saves for MUW's
Sarah Gilliland (Brandon, Miss.). Conversely, five MUW shots were on frame.
The W and Southwestern Adventist will face each other again on Monday afternoon, with a 3 p.m. kickoff in Keene.
