COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women's soccer team will travel to Arkansas, Friday, Feb. 5, to meet the University of the Ozarks Eagles in its first road game of the spring 2021 season. The afternoon matchup in Clarksville will start at 12 p.m. on the Hurie Soccer Field located on the Ozarks campus.
The W is coming off a 5-0 loss against NCAA Division II opponent Mississippi College and looks to rebound at this end of the week matchup. "The team is looking forward to its first road game," said first-year head coach
Catie Lyles. "The young ladies have had a very productive week and practice, and we hope to see it all come together on the field against the Ozarks."
In the last game, the Owls ran the field well but could not find scoring openings against the Choctaw defense. Senior keeper
Sarah Gilliland led the charge for The W in the goal to tally 3 goals allowed with 8 saves, while freshman
Caitlyn Fox stepped up in the second half to allow 2 goals and 6 saves.
To be successful this week, The W must find more scoring opportunities and be more aggressive defensively. Lyles has made instructing and directing changes, which will hopefully translate into a more cohesive performance against the Eagles.
Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. Owls fans can follow the live stats and live stream here:
