Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The W women's soccer played host Freed-Hardeman University fairly even for the bulk of the non-conference match, allowing just a late first-half goal in a 1-0 loss. The Owls fell to 1-4-1, while the Lady Lions improved to 3-5-0, overall.
The match opened with the teams battling in a scoreless draw for nearly 39 minutes. At the 38:56 juncture, the Lady Lions finally broke through on the scoreboard to make it 1-0. FHU would take that advantage into the halftime locker room.
MUW opened the second half with a pair of scoring chances, ten minutes apart. In the 51st minute,
Kate Blankenship received a pass in front of the net but, before she could turn and shoot, she was dispossessed. In the 61st minute,
Anacia Leyland settled the ball just to the left of the face, but was unable to get a solid strike on the ball before the Lady Lions cleared it.
The Owls were out-shot by a 21-7 total margin. FHU had a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Abby Warchus led The W with three shots, two on frame. Leyland and
Haley Kelley each had a shot on goal, as well.

Alex Moon had eight saves, several of the stellar variety to keep her team in the match. Her counterpart for FHU had three saves.
The W will next be in action on Sunday (Sept. 22/2 p.m.) versus the University of St. Thomas (Texas) for a neutral site bout at LSU-Alexandria.
